What London is good for
London is still where traffic between Europe and North America crosses. From LD5, New York sits under 75 ms, Paris around 10 ms and Frankfurt around 15 ms.
LD5 sits at 8 Buckingham Avenue on the Slough Trading Estate, west of London — that is where most of the region's datacenter capacity is, rather than in the centre. We are a LINX LON1 member, which puts UK peering within reach without falling back to transit.
For a platform that has to serve the UK while keeping a European base, pairing London and Paris on one network keeps things simple: same contacts, same euro billing, L2 transport between the two.
It is the most expensive of the five, at €139 for 1U. If a UK presence is not a regulatory or commercial requirement, Paris or Frankfurt cover Europe for less.
